Here's where I confess to multiple levels of idiocy.

1. I should have mentioned that I'm running Windows 7, although that
turns out to be immaterial.

2. I didn't mean 4.9, I meant 4.8 (I downloaded the 4.9 beta, but I'm
not using it).

3. It's not clear that I ever restarted my computer after installing
4.8 -- I installed it a few days ago, so I don't remember.

4. I didn't notice where the Wiki explains that the installer puts
files -- of most importance, that it installs the plugin to a folder
in My Documents (and that seems odd to me, but whatever).

5. Not having read the Wiki carefully, I just looked around in the
Paradigma folder inside Program Files, and I didn't see the V4RB
plugin inside the V4RB folder, so...

6. I found a plugins folder inside the Valentina Studio 4 folder and
coped the kernel and sql DLLs from there into my RB plugins folder.

7. Yes, that's right, I said I copied DLLs from Valentina *Studio*
into my RB plugins folder.

8. And I expected that to somehow work.

At any rate, I ran the 4.8 installer again, rebooted, copied the
V4RB.rbx plugin from its home in My Documents and pasted it into the
RB plugins folder, and now everything works perfectly.

For those of you not keeping score, the final tally = I am an idiot.

Sorry to have bothered you, Ruslan.
