ValentinaEscape

Since using 4.5 ValentinaEscape seems to need utf8 encoded strings. Is this by design or a bug?

I have had an error message that some data couldn't be added to the database. When I checked I saw that the data to be added was Macintosh encoded and ValentinaEscape made a nice star character with a question mark out of a e with accent. After changing the string to utf8 I could add data just fine. Since I always check with accented characters this must be some new issue.
