Hi Thorsten,
Thanks for your help - a lot to think about - however, you have almost
convinced me that I am out of my depth :-))))))
I have never heard of a 'database-layer' - do you mean an RB module
that handles all this? I like the idea of what you suggest, "NO sql
and no explicit database access code anywhere else", that is VERY
appealing to me.
Seeing that I will have to do a great deal of re-design, I may as well
get it right. Any examples of what you suggest? I looked database-
layer up in the RB user guide but no luck - my FMP legacy has left me
rather ignorant I am sorry to say.
There are so many documents on Valentina that I am suffering a bit
from 'knowledge shock', but, I am looking now at the ones you suggested.
Thanks also for the code, 'LongField' and 'Value' was what I was
looking for in the documentation but didn't know it! I find it very
difficult to look things up when I don't know what to look up - a
circular quandary!
I would be totally frustrated if it was not for the help I get from
people like you and the others on this list.
Ongoing thanks to ALL who have helped me so far.
Cheers
