Forwards & Backwards Compatibility

I'm working in RB on Macintosh systems.

In 2007 I developed an app on Mac OS X 10.4 that worked. I returned to that app with RB 2009 on a Mac with OS X 10.6. Now it doesn't work. However, if I run the app from inside of RB 2007, it works on the newer Mac with OS X 10.6.

My question is this....

[1] Will Valentina (V4RB) 4.3 work with RB 2007? 

[2] Or should I use the plug-in from RB 2007 to work inside of RB 2007? 

If the latter, i.e., #2, who compatible will the database developed using the old plug-in for RB 2007 with RB 2009, once REAL Software straightens out the problem I've encountered and reported?
