Parameter binding example?

Hello,

Does anyone know of an example that shows using parameter binding  
with BLOB column and returning the data?

I have tried coding a solution from the reference documentation  
manual and SQL wiki, but I am having trouble getting data out in a  
useful format.  I think it may be an encoding problem with the  
strings and binary data, but I am not sure and I have not been able  
to find a functional example of this to draw upon for guidance.
