Several hundreds records (this is near to zero)
or several Hundreds of thousands records ?

Hmm, Valentina do not like tables with a lots of fields.
Although still depend on type of your queries.

If you will touch in SELECT only few of them from few hundreds, then
Valentina will win a lots. Because Valentina store EACH field into separate
logical file.

So if e.g. The whole Table takes 1Gb on disk and have 300 fields,
Then touch of 3 fields for Valentina can touch only 3MB

You mean that Valentina have delay for you?

Then please describe what exactly query you do?
Do you display all 300 fields of the table ???
