I think yes. Agree very rare need.

Yes this should work.

Chris, who knows. MAY BE for Windows it needs to use other Win32 API
function to open network file...

Another tip to try:
    make in the folder "Databases" alias to network file.
    then MAY BE Widows will open that alias correctly.
