VServer connection time

Hi There,

I'm having a problem with the time it takes to connect to a VServer 
remotely. The program is taking between 4 and 5 seconds to connect to 
the server. Is this about right or is there likely a problem with my 
connection code. This could be a bit of a problem seeing I wanted to 
write a program that only connects to the database when it needs to, 
thus recycling the 5 connections available on VServer.
