Mike, RB DOCS really say directly about Valentina ?
Or they say that front-end will work with OTHER ENGINES also?

Valentina Do not support RBDB API.
This is why this is not true.

Why it not support it?

Mainly because that there was times when it was bad,
An I have discuss and ask ERAL improve it.
Now it seems to be good enough, but Valentina will start support it only
starting from 2.0

To understand the main idea of Valentina you also can look into Exmaple1,
cursor window.

Here you will see how to ADD records with cursor.
And how extract values.

When you have values, it is not important where you will display them,
In EditField, or in Listbox, or in RadioButton. Up to you.
