Couple of things:

The install docs suggest that the default database location should be set
to:
valentina.dbpath = /Users/~yourname/Database
That's wrong and it wont work. It should either be /Users/yourname/Database
or ~yourname/Database.

The php ext installer doesn't ask for admin privs (the C one does), so I
can't install it if I've downloaded PHP as an admin user (as I have) without
doing a whole truckload of permissions changes.
