Hi Russ,

I'm using 2.4b16 (whatever the latest is). It takes 30 ticks (half a 
second) to open a db now (2 or 20 MB takes about the same time). So 
it's pretty good, and I'm not complaining! It goes down to 20 ticks 
after the first open/close, which I guess is the result of caching.
