Well, yes, it is personal preference to some degree.

Of course, if you are not aware of this behavior, it may be quite 
disconcerting to have a few windows suddenly close. Even when aware, 
I may inadvertly try to open a new example before being really done 
with the one showing up.

We should actually be able to open multiple examples at the same 
time. Then this issue is moot. In real applications, I must be able 
to do such a thing, so examples might as well test it out.
