I don't think so ...

case-sensitive 

A) file is not good at all
    have you try import only its first say 100 lines?

    Import Dialog correctly map data of this file to fields?

B) file has error at some point

C) may be try set cache size for kernel plugin more,
50-100Mb  menu HELP -> plugins -> v2 - prefs


D) what size of db file after crash?

E) how many fields in table?
