I certainly prefer the SQL dump.
The XML dump is just too verbose.
And that's only as long as you can actually open the db etc.

Okay, DIAGNOSE of v1 is just consultative step.
In case we see diagnose is not good, we say:
do XML dump then load to get new fresh db
and then only convert it to v2.
