Just downloaded the latest V4RB and the example projects.
All but the first one bomb in the Window1 open event handler here:

No other plugins installed. Mac 10.5.3 and RB 2007r5. f is *not* nil and is
based on a good path. I have not altered the code of the project.
Advice?
