OK -- uncancel it. I do need help.
When I do

     *put* VField_Type( ﬁeldRef )  for the blob at least it returns an
answer. For the picture type field I get no answer.




And now that I have the correct picture type I still get no joy for
VPicture_Read...


      *put* VPicture_ReadPicture(ﬁeldRef ) into tAgentSignature
