I have added "encoding" parameter into the valentina_connection()
as you can see if follow to the next url:

To resolve your issue you need set the encoding of used code page
into the valentina_connection().

For example:
$res = valentina_connection("server:15432", "user", "password",
" ISO-8859-1" );
