Hi,

we are encountering problems with embedded server (Version 2.0a65,
Kernel 1.10) on a special windows configuration. We tried to run an
update on a Windows 2000 server (Version 5.0.2195 Service Pack 4,
Build 2195). It did not work. We tried to remove all and every
registry entry for the service, rebooted the machine and tried to
re-install.

The machine boots, starts the service, but the service does not open
the databases. When we try to stop the service, it stalls after about
half a minute and shows "stopping service" (or similar, this is a
german system) for the state of the service. The service does not
stop, it needs to get killed with the task manager.

We switched the starting option for the service to "manual", started
the service in debug mode in the console and tried to get a
connection. Here is what it shows:

-------------------------------------------------
Thu Nov 8 2007 15:07:38.296000 Valentina Server <2.0a65, Protocol
1.1, Kernel 1.11>
The maximum number of connections: 5

  15:07:30.312000 (3768): Database kernel inited
  15:07:30.312000 (3768): Server started at 15434 port

's1-8888882-pc.D-8888882.S3000:1588' (336)
----> this is where we should have: Connection established with "localhost"

15:13:32.000000 (1568): Client has been suddenly disconnected (336)
  15:13:32.000000 (1568): Closing connection (336)
  15:19:00.875000 (334): Connection established with
's1-8888882-pc.D-8888882.S3000:1588' (416)
15:21:47.031000 (1568): Client has been suddenly disconnected (416)
  15:21:47.031000 (1568): Closing connection (416)
-------------------------------------------------

"S1-8888882-PC" ist the system name of the machine

It seems that this system opens the "master.vdb" but does NOT open
the other database in the "Databases" directory. We have checked the
database and it is all right (it's a standard Database alreday
installed on about 100 machines). We have checked the working
directory for the service (it's "C:\VServerPC") and the path is all
right.

Any ideas?

regards
