I just ran the examplefile "CreateCloseOpen" and got the same problem:

More Specific this is what I did

ran the example--> create the database
copy the database to the server/databases folder
in VStudio : Do register DB
Close VStudio
restart the VServer
Launch VStudio--> Connect as 'sa'
Nothing there

Are you also on an intel mac ?
