:-) I also always wonder on this...

May be because it is not GUI app which has IDLE loop and is able response on
some check-calls from OS X ?

We can answer this :-)

    add into your app simple call to check if connection is alive.
    this send ping to vserver and it answers.

    then your users can see this easy.
