Duplicating rows

I have a need to duplicate some db records.

It's a recurring invoice where there's a parent record and several  
child line items. The user wants to be able to select the parent and  
simply duplicate it - and all the line items would be duplicated as  
well and the objectptrs set to the new parent.

Is there an easy way to do this?  I might be missing something  
obvious - it's getting late...
