Is Valentina 2 for Director Backward compatible?

Dear Colleagues,

Our client had a product in Director powered by Valentina 1 database.
Our client wanted to upgrade to Valentina 2, purchased it for us and as
we are looking into it it looks like it is not backward compatible.
Could you please let us know if this is indeed the case?
