stupid questions about Office Server

I'm interested in making a website with Valentina 2 Office Server as
the database backend. I'm new to databases so forgive me if the
questions are stupid:

1) If I buy the $300 5-connection version, does that literally mean
that only five people can access my website's database at once? I
don't understand the lingo.

2) Why are there "win" and "mac" versions? Isn't this supposed to be a
database accessible by any computer with an internet connection?
