I think you are right. I will stay with V1 and when I move the application to V2 I will fix the database so it does not rely on the RecId but instead I can keep my own primary key. This day has been very educational for me. Thank you everyone for your help. Ruslan, thanks for being patient with me. Next week I think I will purchase a copy of VDN. Now it is time to go and drink some beer. This was a long day.

Yes, true. Only Carbon.

Then Don, may be you can be happy enough with Vserver 1.x engine?
People have used it about 2 years without fatal problems.

Then you need just obtain VDN Platform.
    Also Good point is that license files are the same
    for Vserver 1.x and Vserver 2.x
    
So in fact you will get license for Vserver 2.x also.

And may be some time later, when MacOS Classic will die at last of end you
will be happy with v2
