No, ObjectPtr works in pair with RecID only.
And this is your benefit.

IF you want to use pair

    T1. NumVolumes      <-      T2.ptr

Then T2.ptr should be the same type as NumVolumes.
This is regular, old known, link by value from Relational model.

You can use this way. Then just create in T2 field of the same type.
I think you know how to do this. The same as in all other RDBMS.
