I badly explained myself : I said table instead of field !

I have, for example , a data base with a table which contains 30 fields.
The table contains 10 000 records. OK ?

I add another field ( varchar ) : on the 10 000 records of the table,  
maximum ten will have a value for this field.

Is the difference of size between the first base and the second  
important?
