math functions

Hi im new to valentina and trying to work out how to do math functions on fields. I want to be able to take the value of 
one field and add it to the value of another field in a different table,  how would I do this? 

I tried the sql string:

Select   tableA_name,  (tableA_columnNumber + tableB_columnNumber)
from tableA, tableB

How does valentina function with maths?
