[V4WS] UPDATE...WHERE problem

I reported this some time ago, and I'm wondering if there might be a fix (or maybe my syntax is wrong with V4WS?):

V4WS 1.10. 

f is a nullable field.

valSqlExecute(dB,"UPDATE tbl SET f = null WHERE f = 'whatever'");

sets f to string "null" for varchar
sets f to 0 for numeric

It seems to be treating null as the string "null".
