Help with Pictures

I believe I have solved the problem. When I originally set up my Picture
field, I had selected "Compressed" because I wanted to use JPG compression
on the image. However, when I unselected "Compressed" and tried it, it wrote
the pictures to the database correctly, and still seemed to use the JPG
compression.

So, I have to ask - what is that "Compressed" selection for and why would it
prevent pictures from being written to the db?
