I have create simple db with one table and 2 fields.

Now in viSQL I do 

update [object 1] set a = 1 where b > 4

And it works fine.

Then I try 

update [object 1] set a = FALSE where b > 4

And it also  work fine.


So please try do your query from visQL against your db.
If this works, then may be in C++ code you have forget to make cursor
ReadWrite?
