363 - Record locked

What can cause a record to be locked?

My Delete command fails because the record is locked.
The only other SQL command in this event is a SELECT, and I set the cursor
to NIL before I issue any other SQL commands (I've verified this in the
Variables' list).

I've even gone to the other events and methods to make sure that they
explicitly set any cursor to NIL after a select statement. (But I thought
that all of these variables' instances are reset to NIL when the
method/event ends.)
