You seem to be forgetting that once you give us a proper SQL parser,
we will be able (and usually want) to get rid of procedures that we
use to work around the limitations or kinks in the current parser.
Plus we have agreed on this list that you do not have to keep
compatibility with 1.x products in terms of parameter lists, so some
changes are expected.
