Slow DB (and tables) creation on Windows

Upon launching my RB5.1 application, creating a DB with approx 10 tables
and about 15 fields each on Windows, it takes very long even on a fast
Windows XP systems (12 secs on a 2Ghz P4). The harddisk seems to work
very hard in these seconds. On Mac OS X this is instantly. I have heard
of this problem before, is there any solution in sight?
