Reports Scaling down on print

I can design a report and in preview mode it renders beautifully and to scale.  If I print the same report, it is scaled down significantly. 12pt text shrinks to under 10pt.  In order to make the report readable, I have to increase the font size significantly on the report in Studio.  Can  you explain why this is occurring?
