2.4b16: unhandled exception 2948

BTW I just noticed that the exception number changes: I originally wrote
2948, but it appears to be different each time. I see 4012, 3636, 3280, etc.

Would it be helpful to see a screenshot? I'll send you one offlist if you
like.
