Yes, Ruslan. I know. I have this already on my ToDo list - but i think i should port to the 2.0 interface first. Well - depends on how far 2.0 is right now. I think it make only sense to port to 2.0 if 2.0 has most of it's features (at least in alpha stage) implemented. The point is that now many developers seems to use vStudio already in there everyday work - this would break if i port to a not ready 2.0.. So - maybe it can make sense to start with AS before the port...what you think? Developers that use Vstudio in every day work Need Vstudio based on 1.x Next week you will ship next alpha of Vstudio. It must be good as I understand. Valentina 1.x developers will be able use unti 2.0 release. You must keep link to this build all this time. And you must introduce new Vstuduo build based on 2.0. Hi Vladimir, Jochen Peter (developer of Valentina Studio) already have try integrate Valentina with Phyton. That was fast check and as I have hear no big problems. In fact Jochen plan integrate Phyton into Valentina Studio and make it as main script language for Valentina Studio. For your project, I think you ask for calls of Valentina engine directly from Phyton. This is very close to what will do Jochen. In fact it is very easy to wrap the Valentina C++ API using SWIG. (See http://www.swig.org for details) I have made a quick test with SWIG, Python and valentina using the old Valentina 1.x API and it works with no problems - but it was a technical test only! In Valentina Studio we will have more then 1 scripting language - i plan to have at least JavaScript and Python. During the last weeks i have read more about JavaScript integration and it seems to be more easy to integrate JS in Valentina Studio - because it is only a C library which can be easily embedded. I also see in fact good reasons to have "Valentina for Phyton" - but this should be made when the 2.0 API from Valentina is available. -- Best regards, Jochen Peters PIIT GmbH ------------------------------------ http://www.valentina-db.de From dlvl at mail.kz Mon Feb 16 14:54:16 2004 From: dlvl at mail.kz (Vladimir Lobyntsev) Date: Mon Feb 16 02:55:15 2004 Subject: [Valentina-studio] Valentina for Python In-Reply-To: Message-ID: ??????? ?? ??????????. ???? ????? ????? ?????? ? ???????????? ????. Yes - 666 means unregistered user! The problem is that vStudio is maintainig it's own preference database - in case you get the 666 error in a situation where vStudio tries to write to it's prefs db - then the result is garbage in the prefs db ...:-) So - there is a simple solution: Just trash the folder "vsPrefsDB" - it is located in your home directory - just search for it and trash it. After that everything should work again. Note: The upcoming next release which i will make available for download during this week will not have this problem any more.. > Hello All, > > After joining the beta list today, I downloaded and installed Valentina > Studio (W2K), and started playing around. > > After a few minutes, I began seeing "error 666" messages. Yes - i can do this - but then the list view will be of no additional use any more - i don't like showing duplicate info's.. And note: The Property inspector currently ONLY shows properties of the database structure! Eh, probably you have spend time on not needed task. When you will switch to 2.0 engine you will have access to whatever you want. BTW, in 2.0 we have add one more option to import/export: Has Column Header This can work with the first line in the EXPORT FILE, Which contains not data, but column headers. -- Best regards, Ruslan Zasukhin [ I feel the need...the need for speed ] ------------------------------------------------------------- e-mail: ruslan@paradigmasoft.com web: http://www.paradigmasoft.com To subscribe to the Valentina mail list go to: http://lists.macserve.net/mailman/listinfo/valentina ------------------------------------------------------------- From j.peters at valentina-db.de Sat Feb 21 11:42:20 2004 From: j.peters at valentina-db.de (Jochen Peters) Date: Sat Feb 21 04:42:28 2004 Subject: [Valentina-studio] [ANN] Build a40 (Mac) available In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <9FF99D12-645A-11D8-9CAB-000A959F6B0C@valentina-db.de> Hi Ruslan, > I assume you self parse text file ? Well - currently this is not planned. You can simply use the system integrated dialogs for managing your ODBC datasources. You can do this on Win and Mac completly without vStudio. > > Even better, it would be nice to have data sources appear in the "Data > Sources" tree in V-S List View. Or in Column View, when I click "ODBC > datasouce" in the popup, I'd expect registered data sources to appear. Yes - this is a good point. In the current implementation you must put your ODBC datasources manually in vStudio's datasource list. You can do this by using the menu command "Connect to server.." - The dialog has a popup where you can choose between "valentina Server" and "ODBC datasource" - select "ODBC datasource" - then you must fill in the name of the datasource (as registered by the system) and your user name and password. Then click connect - and the datasource should appear in the left most column of the column view - and also in the list view. You can now work with the ODBC datasource in the same way as you do it with valentina databases - with one exception: Currently you only have "read-only" access to the db structure. This will change in the future. Well - i must put up some tutorial about this ODBC stuff.
