I also agree with this.

As for me I HATE drawers of OS X.
And I do not like too much dockable windows of Visual.

Eric,

In the new design, Jochen offer to have just 3 (!!!) columns.
So why you want to hide column of dbs ?
I do not see many sense in this.
We have a lots of monitor space.
