Upon a more rigorous testing scheme, I found that it does seem to be  
working.

I was having trouble exiting a linux console app, and I believe I was  
causing some corruption of the Db by not doing a full proper close all  
the time.  I have fixed that and the encryption is now working more  
consistently on all 3 platforms.
