I had this type of problem too and I bet the solution is the same
Although it might look different in your editor.

In my TextEditor I have for the Text definition class a property
"Write UDT and UTF-8 BOM"

I have to check that property (every thime as it's reset) before saving the
file
Or Valentina don't like to read it. So check for something similar in your
editor.

There is probably nothing wrong with your XML, it's the file format,
Valentina is
picky about this (too much I think), but it might be it has to for other
reasons.
