NO.

I believe that we have close with Sergey all issues about escaping.

* In fact parameter inForRegex is NOT used any more, and will be removed.

* We should not escape ^

IT IS your user (or your app) should escape that.

    "aaa\^"bbb  -- this is what ME enter into BBEdit when I do regex
