Okay, I have done so.  I am still getting the client hang when I 
register a database.  VServer reports

13:58:18.602219 (42017792): (15) Registering database 
'timedatabase.vdb': FAILED

But now, after I force-quit VServer Utility and run it again, it shows 
the above database as having being successfully registered.

Unregister appears to work just fine.

My setup is that I'm running both server and client on the same 
machine, OS 10.3.9.
