Greetings!****

My name is Tom Storey, and I am the Osbourn HS Swim Team Official’s Chair.
Based upon our very limited response so far, I am quite concerned that we
may have difficulty in providing enough Swim Team officials (mostly Stroke
and Turn Judges) for our high school swim meets.   To address this, I am
willing, assuming we get adequate interest, to present a Stroke and Turn
Clinic at Osbourn at 9:00 AM on Saturday December 1st.    I would plan on
using a DVD that is provided by USA Swimming and would cover its contents
plus the small set of rules that differ from USA Swimming and VHSL.  I
picture the clinic lasting about 2-3 hours.  While the focus would be on
parents new to officiating, the class would be open to all.****

To get the word out and assess interest, I am requesting that you forward
this note, copying me, to your swim team coach and request that they send
out a note to their swim team parents.  I apologize in advance for the late
notice on this, I didn’t realize how short we were until recently.****

Would it be possible to teach it on Saturday 12/1 at 9?****

If this works, I would like to send out an invitation to the swim coaches
of the Cedar Run District.  I assume I can locate the Activities Directors
from each school via their websites, assuming you don’t already have a list
on hand.****

Great!   There would be no charge and I can provide at least the training
DVD and whatever AV equipment that is not available.****

I am quite open as to when the class would be taught.  My leaning would be
on a Saturday morning, it typically takes about 3 hours.****

As far as getting the word out, if I had the emails of the Activities
Director for the other schools in our district, I could shoot them an email
asking how to contact their swim team head coaches…****

Ira,
First, thanks for conducting the winter sports orientation meeting this
week.
I am the head swim official for OHS this year, and we (and I assume) other
schools are struggling to get swim officials for our meets.
I am investigating the possibility that I would teach an official's class
and open it to other schools that might be interested.
Is this the sort of thing that I could conduct at Osbourn?
